What should I do for my vehicle to help prepare for winter?

Check your heater/defroster: Before the weather really begins to turn for the worst, you should always be checking some key systems to ensure you can get them fixed before you have to deal with unbearable cold. We especially recommend testing your heated and defroster as early as possible to make sure that everything is in working order. If you notice any problems, our service technicians will be more than happy to find the issue, offer you the diagnosis, and fix everything so you can be on your way again, and know that you and your passengers will be kept warm.

Replace windshield wipers: You've likely heard this a lot by now, but windshield wipers should actually be changed out fairly regularly. We recommend at least every 6 months, but we especially recommend replacing them, if you haven't already, before the winter months roll around. Not being able to see out of your windshield can lead to devastating consequences, and just by having newer wiper blades, you can avoid any catastrophe. While you're here, ensure that your wiper fluid is filled up, too, as it can be really helpful thanks to the freeze-resistant nature of it!

Have the right supplies on hand: Beyond just focusing on the condition of your vehicle, it's vital in your prep for winter that you have all of the supplies and tools on hand you need for success. This includes things like an ice scraper, shovel, dirt, flashlight, and even additional provisions to make sure that if you end up stuck, you'll be able to make it through the night. That's why we believe people should always carry a blanket in their car, and even a first-aid kit. The more prepared you are, the less likely disaster is to strike.

Check your tires: Your tires are unsung heroes, providing your ride with the traction you need to make it through even the worst winters. We highly recommend not only having the inflation levels checked, but using the penny test to ensure that you have enough tread to give you the traction that we previously mentioned. Our service techs will be around to do whatever it takes to keep you on the road, and allow your tires to do their job.
