What Should I Bring While Off-Roading in Iowa?

For a successful day of off-roading, it's always a good idea to be well-prepared with the right gear to make sure your adventure goes smoothly. First, a physical map is crucial for navigating unfamiliar terrain and avoiding getting lost. You might not have cell phone service, so a physical copy, or one that's been downloaded onto your device is best. On that note, a reliable radio is important for communication, especially in areas with no cell service. Bringing plenty of water is essential to stay hydrated throughout the adventure. Additionally, recovery gear like a winch and winch strap is necessary to handle any potential obstacles or getting stuck. These tools, combined with careful planning, will help ensure a safe and enjoyable off-roading experience!

What Are Lynch Mukwonago's Top Safety Tips?

Off-roading comes with certain risks, and that's part of what makes it such a fun and thrilling activity! However, your safety should always come first. There are many simple ways to plan ahead and keep you and your passengers safe. First of all, do your research about the local trails so that you can be aware of any closures or other hazards like flooding or downed trees. When planning your trip, make sure to always go in groups, with more than one vehicle on the trail. This allows you to tow each other out, or go for help. Drivers should stay aware while they're on the trails, especially if bicycles or hikers are present. If you're driving on an incline, be sure to yield to those going uphill, as stopping on the incline can cause vehicles to get stuck. By following these safety tips, you can help everyone on the trail have a safe and fun day!

What are the Best Vehicles for Off-Roading in Iowa?

Many of Iowa's trails are reserved for OHVs or ATVs, such as 4-wheelers, side-by-sides, or dirt bikes. Be sure to check the rules of your desired trail before you head out. However, if you're looking for an off-road vehicle that can also be driven on-road, then we've got you covered! Here at Lynch Mukwonago, we have a huge selection of cars, ranging from SUVs like the Jeep Wrangler, to pickup trucks like the Ram 1500 Rebel. These models have features like all-terrain tires, off-road suspension, and a disconnecting sway bar for better articulation. Other off-road features to look for include a locking rear differential for better traction, and underbody skid plates or rock rails to protect your vehicle from rough terrain!
