Cooling system
One of the first things that should be looked at before summer really sets in is the cooling system. You need to be looking at the antifreeze concentration levels, as if the levels are off, the cooling system could potentially fail as you're driving down the road. You should also be having your radiator mount checked up on, especially when it comes to the fan shrouds and the fan clutch. This can be accomplished with flushing it through a pressure wash on the engine side, which will hopefully get out any debris.
Air conditioning
Not only do you want your engine to remain cool, but you want to stay cool this summer, too. That's why it's vital that the air conditioning system in your truck is working the way it should. Listen for any noises from the blower motor. Attempt to observe any gas leaks. Be sure to look at all of the hoses, fittings, and flex points. Finally, the filters and the condenser of your air conditioning system needs to be cleaned and free from all of the potential debris that could get in.
Tire maintenance
Beyond staying cool and keeping your truck cool, you also need to make sure that your tires are in proper condition. This includes checking out the treads, making sure that they are wearing evenly, and that they are pumped to the right air pressure. You never want your tires to be over or under-inflated, with both of these options not being ideal.
Check the battery
The last thing we really want to make sure you look at this summer is your battery. While cold is bad for batteries, heat isn't much better. Be sure to make sure that the battery is holding charge, and that you don't see any issues when it comes to the wiring, and any potential deterioration.
