Chevy's Teen Driver Technology

Many studies have been published that show that teen drivers make far more poor decisions than adult drivers. These include speeding, not putting on their seat belts, driving while on their cell phone, or talking to friends. Chevy's new teen driving technology will give parents the tools that will help them educate and provide helpful advice to their teen drivers on necessary driving behavior. Consider these statistics. It's been proven that only 61% of teen drivers wear their seat belts when driving with someone else, and about 93% of teens play loud and distracting music when behind the wheel. Teen drivers tend to speed more than older drivers, which could lead to accidents. All of this prompted Chevy to create this technology so that the automotive company could help your teen drivers as they start their driving life. 

Teen Driver Assist Technology offers your teen many safety functionalities, from the industry's first Buckle to Drive feature to mute the audio until all front seat passengers are buckled to turn on every safety feature automatically. Then there is the in-vehicle report card, which will show a lot of different information about your teen's driving habits, which allows parents to identify any potential problems so that they can coach their kids about the importance of having exemplary driving habits. It's another way that Chevy is there for you and your family. 

Available in the Teen Driver Assist Technology is the first-ever Buckle to Drive feature designed to remind all young drivers to buckle their seatbelts before putting the car in gear. If the driver attempts to shift out of the park and their seatbelt or the seatbelts of their passengers have not been buckled, this technology won't allow the driver to shift for 20 seconds. The dashboard will light up with audio and visual cues, so they will always know that their seatbelt is unbuckled and hopefully get in the habit of buckling before taking off. 

Chevy's Teen Driver Technology is very easy to set up; you only need to enter a PIN number to access the Teen Driver menu. All the information will be displayed on the available Chevrolet Infotainment Display, and you will need to register a key. Once your teen driver drives the Chevy with the registered key, the Teen Driver Assist technology kicks into high gear with features such as Speed Warning, which sends audio and visual cues when the vehicle is over a pre-selected speed. Then, the Speed Limiter will restrict the maximum vehicle speed to 85 mph. The Audio Limit, which sets a limit on stereo volume, goes along with the Seat Belt Audio Mute, which will mute the audio until the driver and the front passenger have put on their seatbelts.
