About Greenfield Wisconsin
The town of Greenfield was first created in 1839 as Kinnikinnick, and on December 20th of that year, a portion of the city was split off to form the town of Franklin. In 1841, the town's name was changed to Greenfield as it took its name from the Post Office in Kinnickinnic. Greenfield was the first municipality in Milwaukee County and was the first to incorporate as was the first to leave the Town form of government in 1957.
